National Initiative Highlighted in U.S. Attorney General Keynote

On Monday, July 13, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch delivered the keynote address at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives’ (NOBLE) 39th Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. During the address, she underscored the U.S. Department of Justice commitment to working collaboratively with local police in developing trust between communities and the criminal justice system. Noting that such collaboration is key to the success of the National Initiative for Building Community Trust and Justice (National Initiative), the Attorney General told the audience, “Those of you who patrol the streets know the troubled areas on which we need to focus. We will be relying on your voice, on your expertise, on your experience and your judgment as we build this initiative.” Investing in training and using evidence-based strategies, the National Initiative is focused on enhancing procedural justice, reducing implicit bias and driving racial reconciliation.
