New Video on the Diagnostic Center’s Procedural Justice Training for Law Enforcement

The Office of Justice Programs released a new video on the Diagnostic Center’s procedural justice training for law enforcement that serves to rebuild community trust and increase legitimacy. Procedural justice focuses on the way police interact with the public, and how these interactions influence crime rates and the public’s view of police and willingness to obey the law. Evidence shows that practicing procedural justice can have significant impact on public safety and officer safety. This video provides an example of how the Rockford Police Department was able to use procedural justice to bridge the gap between officers and community juveniles by hosting “Whiffle Ball Wednesday.” Multiple other communities are also featured in the video including representatives from Springettsbury, Pennsylvania and Durham, North Carolina.
